Joe Fontana

Joe Fontana (OL, 6'3-1/2", 280, 5.0) from Brother
Martin high school in New Orleans. Fontana is listed as
No. 30 on my top 100 top prospect list. Fontana has a 3.3
GPA and made a 19 on the ACT the only time he has taken
the test and is planning on retaking the test in the near
future. Fontana has scholarship offers from Kentucky and
Arkansas and is hearing from several other SEC schools.
Fontana recently attended an LSU practice and had a great
time and enjoyed meeting several LSU coaches and players.
Fontana also has plans to attend a Southern Mississippi
and Alabama practice. He is not certain at this time what
Summer camps, if any, he will attend this Summer. Fontana
would like to take official visits to LSU, Alabama, Ole
Miss, Arkansas and Kentucky. I like Joe Fontana and I believe
he has his head screwed on right and will make some team
a great player.

Friday (2/22) I interviewed Dustin
Dixon (RB/LB, 6'2", 215, 4.5) from Livonia high
school in ST Landry parish. Dixon
was outstanding at a recent Nike
camp in New Orleans and that prompted
LSU to invite Dixon to Junior Day
(today) at LSU. As a running back,
Dixon gained 1,100 yards rushing
and scored 26 touchdown with the
longest run being 86 yards. Dixon
also had 30 receptions for 430 yards and
six touchdowns. Dixon is receiving
mail from LSU, Arkansas, Duke, Connecticut and La Tech.
Dixon is not certain who he would like to visit in 2009
but does plan on visiting LSU and attending one LSU
Summer camp.
Quinn Giles
WR/DB, 5'11", 185, 4.43
Thursday afternoon I interviewed Quinn Giles (WR/DB, 5'11",
185, 4.43) from Evangel high school who is one of the state's
most underrated players. Giles has a 3.5 GPA and will take
the ACT next month. The speedster is hearing from LSU,
Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Texas and ULM. Giles would
like to visit LSU, Alabama, Tennessee and Arkansas. In
2007, Giles made All-District and All-City. On the season,
Giles had 42 receptions for over 600 yards and five touchdowns.
Giles' Summer plans are to attend Summer camps at Alabama,
UNC, and VA Tech. Giles will be attending Junior Day at
LSU with the other three prospects I interviewed Tuesday.
Former LSU defensive tackle Byron Dawson is a assistant
coach at Evangel and will be bringing the players to LSU
for Junior Day.
Trey Wilson
CB, 5'11", 175, 4.43
Tuesday (2/19) I interviewed three Evangel players.
The first interview I did was with
Trey Wilson (CB, 5'11",
175, 4.43). Wilson told me that
he has a 3.5 GPA and made a 22
on the ACT the only time he took
the test. Wilson is receiving mail
from LSU, Texas, Vanderbilt, Purdue,
Southern Mississippi, Florida,
Miami and Georgia. In 2007 Wilson
recorded 33 tackles, four interceptions
and broke up 21 passes and had
one kick return for a touchdown.
Wilson made All-District and All-City
(Shreveport) in 2007. Wilson has
a busy Summer lined up with plans to attend Summer camps
at LSU, Texas, VA Tech and Vanderbilt. Wilson has been
invited to attend Junior Day at LSU but will not be able
to attend because of a conflict with a track and field
meet.
Dez Duron
QB, 5'11", 165, 4.7
After talking to Wilson I spoke to quarterback Dez Duron
(5'11", 165, 4.7). Duron is a 4.0 student who scored
a 29 on the ACT. Duron is hearing mostly from Vanderbilt
and Princeton and would like to visit LSU, Harvard and
Vanderbilt. Duron threw for 3,000 yards and 28 touchdowns
in 2007. Duron is not certain of what Summer camp, if any,
he will attend this Summer.
Cerderrick Tyson
RB, 5'8", 185, 4.5
I also talked with Cerderrick Tyson (RB, 5'8", 185,
4.5). Tyson is receiving a lot of mail from Vanderbilt,
Alabama, Florida, and Ole Miss and would like to take official
visits to LSU, Florida and LA Tech. Tyson made All-District,
All-City and Honorable Mention All-State as a junior. Tyson
did not have his 2007 stats in front of him when we spoke.
Tyson will attend a Nike Camp in New Orleans this Summer.

I interviewed punter-kicker John
Shaughnessy (5'10",
160) from Byrd high school in
Shreveport. Shaughnessy had a great
junior season in 2007 and is expected to have a better season
in 2008. Below are Shaughnessy's stats for the 2007 season:
- 33 of 35 PATs
- 9 of 15 field goals--longest was 47 yds. The six field goals that Shaughnessy missed were more than 47 yards.
- 78% of kickoffs resulted in touchbacks--most were kicked out of the end zone, with one going through the uprights and hitting the score board!
- Averaged 38 yds. per punt
- Set school-tying record with most PATs in a game (6)
- Set school record for most field goals in a game (3)
- Set school record for most field goals in a season

Shaughnessy has a 3.7 GPA and took the ACT two weeks ago.

Friday I conducted two more interviews. My first was with
second team All-State running back Darin Self (6'1",
237, 4.58) from ST Helena high school in Greensburg, Louisiana.
Coach Cvseuerio is very high on his star running back who
rushed for 1,708 yards as a junior. Self has a 3.0 GPA
and is scheduled to take the ACT in April. He is receiving
mail from LSU, Auburn, Florida, LA Tech, UL-L and UL-M.
Self has been invited to attend Junior day at LSU on February
23.
James Wigstrom
FB/DE, 6'1", 255, 4.7
Later Friday afternoon I talked to James Wigstrom, (FB/DE,
6'1", 255, 4.7) from Northshore high school in Slidell.
Wigstrom has a 2.9 GPA and made a 20 on his ACT. Wigstrom
is one of the state's strongest players and hopes to break
the state weightlifting records at Central high school
on March 01. Wigstrom bench presses 430 and squats 630.
He is hearing from LSU, Alabama, Southern Mississippi,
Tulane and UL-L and would like to visit Southern Miss and
LSU. Wigstrom is planning on attending Summer camps at
Southern Mississippi and LSU.

Cody Stroud
QB, 6'3", 185,

Tuesday (2/13/08) I spoke to
Cody Stroud (QB, 6'3", 185,
4.9) from Montgomery high school
in Grant Parish. Stroud has a
3.5 GPA and made an 18 on his
ACT as a sophomore. Brian Williams,
head coach at the class 1-A school,
told me that Stroud needs to
improve his time in the forty
but he has the arm and smarts
to play 1-A college football.
Stroud made first team class
1-A All-State as a sophomore
and second team ATH as a junior.
In 2007, the strong armed quarterback
threw for 2,536 yards and 20
touchdowns completing over 60
percent of his passes. Stroud
is receiving lots of mail from
Alabama, Tennessee, Florida and
some from LSU. Stroud would like to visit SEC schools,
Texas and Texas Tech. Stroud is planning on attending
the Manning passing camp this Summer and has been
invited to attend a combine put on by Scout in
New Orleans. Stroud is also averaging 14 points
per game in basketball.
Jordan Mills
OT, 6'7", 280
After speaking to Cody Stroud I interviewed Jordan
Mills (OT, 6'7", 280) from Assumption high
school in Napoleonville. Mills has a 3.3 GPA and
took the ACT test last Saturday. Mills attended
one LSU camp last Summer and has plans to attending
Summer camp again at LSU this Summer and a lineman
camp in Texas. Mills is hearing from LSU and other
schools but did not have any letters in front of
him when we spoke. Mills made second team All-District
in 2007 and hopes to make All-State in 2008.
James Landry
QB
Before interviewing Stroud, I asked Coach Shawn
Preston about quarterback James Landry who would
have been a national recruit in the last signing
class if not for grades. According to Coach Preston,
Landry will be attending Holmes Junior college
and could be highly recruited in two years.

Last night (2/7/08) I spoke to two
outstanding prospects that are
unknown names at this time but
won't be for long. First I talked
to Payten Jason (RB, 6'0", 190,
4.4) from Jesuit. Payten committed
to Ole Miss after his sophomore
year in high school after having a
great season. He missed most
of the 2007 season with a high
ankle sprain and a bruised collar
bone but did manage to gain 500
yards in four games and scored
10 touchdowns. Payten recentley
attended a one day Alabama camp
and had a great time. The speedy
running back is receiving lots
of mail frmom Alabama, LSU, Virginia,
Michigan State and UNC. Payten's plans are to attend
Summer camps at LSU, Alabama, Tennessee and Arkansas.
Greg Washington
RB, 5'8", 165, 4.45
Later Thursday night I spoke to Greg Washington
(RB, 5'8", 165, 4.45) from Captain Shreve
high school in Shreveport. Washington played his
sophomore season in high school at Cole high school
in San Antonio, Texas where he rushed for 1,675
yards and 26 touchdowns. Washington missed the
entire season last year but will be ready to play
his senior season at Captain Shreve. Washington
will be someone to keep an eye on.

Kelvin York
RB, 5'11", 215, 4.5
Friday I talked to highly touted running back
Kelvin York (5'11", 215, 4.5) from Dutchtown
high school. York was not sure about his GPA and
will be taking the ACT in February. York split
rushing attempts in 2007 with five-star running
back Eddie Lacy but still managed to gain 947 yards
and score nine touchdowns. York is receiving mail
from LSU and several other big-time 1-A programs.
York would like to visit USC, Arkansas, Alabama
and LSU in 2008, if invited. York is also a member
of the Dutchtown track and field team and runs
the 100 meters and 4x100. He is planning on attending
at least one Summer camp at LSU.
Wes Luguette
QB, 6'0", 205, 4.7
Wes Luguette (QB, 6'0", 205, 4.7) from Newman
high school in New Orleans has a 2.78 GPA and will
be taking the ACT test in February. The signal
caller is receiving mail from LSU, Florida, Auburn,
Alabama and UNC. Luquette would like to take official
visits to LSU, Georgia, Florida and Alabama. Luquette
made All-District and second team All-State as
a sophomore. In the 2007 season, Luquette threw
for 2,027 yards and 25 touchdowns and rushed for
530 yards and 12 touchdowns. The strong-armed quarterback's
plan for the Summer is to attend one LSU football
camp. Luquette is also an outstanding catcher on
the Newman baseball team and is planning on attending
a few Summer baseball camps.

Vincent Collins
RB, 6'1", 186, 4.5
Wednesday afternoon I interviewed two outstanding
prospects from Westlake high school. Westlake went
undefeated during the 2007 high school season and
lost a one-point heart-breaker to Parkview Baptist
in the class 3-A state championship game. I first
talked to Vincent Collins (RB), 6'1", 186,
4.5. Collins has a 3.0 GPA and will be taking the
ACT February 09. Collins is a Blue-collar, hard-nosed
player much like Jacob Hester. Collins is hearing
mostly from Tulane, Connecticut, Miami and LSU
and would like to visit LSU at the end of the 2007
season. Collins rushed for 2,200 yards and 33 touchdowns
and returned two kicks for touchdowns against Kaplan
and Parkview Baptist in the state championship
game. Collins made All-District and All-State in
2007 and was named MVP in the class 3-A state championship
game. Collins' goals are to return to the Dome
and bring home the 3-A state trophy to Westlake
high school. Collins has been to the last three
LSU Summer camps and is planning on camping at
LSU in June.
Ryan Davis
OL, 6'5", 270
After interviewing Vincent Collins I interviewed
Ryan Davis (OL, 6'5", 270). Davis has a 3.0
GPA and will take the ACT on February 09. Davis
made All-District second team in 2007 and has his
goal set to make All-State in 2008. Tulane, Connecticut
and Nicholls State are showing strong interest.
Davis also plays defensive tackle in goal-line
defense and would like to visit LSU. He has plans
to attend Summer camps at LSU and McNeese this
Summer.
Terrance Johnson
QB/ATH, 6'2 1/2", 4.55
Thursday morning I interviewed Terrance Johnson
(QB/ATH, 6'2 1/2", 4.55) from Paterson high
school. Johnson has a 2.75 GPA and is receiving
mail from Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, LSU and all in-state
schools. Johnson threw for 3,183 yards and 32 touchdowns
and rushed for 250 yards and three touchdowns.
Johnson made All-District and honorable mention
All-State in 2007. Johnson's goals for 2008 are
to make All-State and lead his team to the state
championship game next December. Johnson also plays
guard on the Lumberjacks' basketball team and averages
10.3 points per game. Johnson will be attending
Summer camp at LSU.

Elon Grinstead
WR, 6'2 1/2", 205, 4.5
Tuesday morning I finally caught up with Coach
Michael Clesiak from Tioga High school to get some
information on wide receiver Elon Grinstead (6'2
1/2", 205, 4.5) who has a 2.5 GPA and a 17
on his ACT. Clesiak told me that in his many years
of high school coaching, Grinstead is the only
player he has ever coached who he believes will
be playing on Sunday someday. Clesiak compares
Grinstead's talent to a young Terrelle Owen. Grinstead
is receiving mail from Georgia, Purdue, LSU, Vanderbilt,
Mississippi State, and Florida, to name a few.
Grinstead would like to take official visits to
LSU and Georgia at the end of the 2008 season and
is planning on attending Summer Camps at LSU and
Georgia. Grinstead had over 40 receptions in 2007
and eight touchdowns and one 85-yard kick off for
a touchdown. Grinstead also plays free safety.
He made All-District the last two years and All-Central
Louisiana, and Honorable Mention All-state, in
2007. Grinstead also plays centerfield on the Tioga
baseball team and hit .286 in 2007 and stole eight
out of eight stolen bases attempted.
Shane Delery
DE, 6'2", 230, 4.8
Later Tuesday I talked to Jesuit high school football
coach Wayne Keiser concerning defensive end Shane
Delery (6'2", 230, 4.8). Coach Keiser did
not want me talking to Delery at this time but
did tell me that Delery will be sign with a 1-A
school and will have the grades to enroll at a
1-A school. I asked what schools Delery is hearing
from and he called out UNC, Northwestern of the
Big Ten, Alabama, Louisville and LSU from a stack
of mail he received in the last few days. Delery
bench presses 310 and squats 400 and is one of
the state's top heavy weight wrestlers.
Tahj Jones
LB, 6'2 1/2", 4.48
Tuesday afternoon I talked to Coach Paul Bourgeois
of Sulphur high school concerning All-State linebacker
Tahj Jones (6'2 1/2", 4.48) from Sulphur.
Bourgeois told me that Jones will be a national
recruit in 2008 and one of the best he has ever
coached. Jones is hearing from all the major schools
in the SEC and other big-time programs. Coach Bourgeois
did not have Jones' GPA in front of him but did
say that his prize recruit had not taken the ACT
yet but would take the test in February. I have
not been able to reach Jones but hope to before
this week is over

Rico Jones
QB, 6'1", 200, 4.6
Monday afternoon I talked to coach Billy North
from John Ehret high school concerning two super
prospects on the Patriots team. I first asked Coach
North about quarterback Rico Jones (6'1",
200, 4.6) who will be a three-year starter in 2008
and does a great job running the spread offense.
North said that Jones does a good job throwing
medium-range and deep passes and will fit in good
with a school that runs the spread offense. The
multi-talented quarterback is hearing from schools
nation wide. Jones threw for over 1,000 yards and
rushed for 600 yards last season. Coach North was
not certain about Jones' Summer plans. Jones is
hearing from schools all over the country.
Lamin Barrow
LB, 6'2", 220, 4.6
After speaking about Rico Jones, Coach North talked
about his prize linebacker, Lamin Barrow (6'2",
220, 4.6) Barrow is a rangy type person who could
gain 20 pounds without losing any speed. Barrow
is a very close friend of LSU defensive tackle
Drake Nevis.
Duante Triplett
RB, 5'10", 210, 4.5
The third player on the John Ehret team that Coach
North told me about was running back Duante Triplett
(5'10", 210, 4.5) North describe Triplett
as having great vision and as a national recruit.
As a junior, Triplett rushed for 800 yards and
had over 300 yards receiving. Triplett is a very
strong athlete who bench presses 350, squats 530
and power clings 330. Triplett is also a good friend
of Drake Nevis. Coach North did not want to talk
about academics and which schools are recruiting
his players.
Brandon Spurlock
OL, 6'2", 265, 4.9
Monday night I interviewed offensive lineman Brandon
Spurlock (6'2", 265, 4.9) from Clinton high
school. Spurlock has a 3.8 GPA and made a 21 on
the ACT the only time he took it. Spurlock is a
little undersized but his foot speed and aggression
make up for his lack of height. Spurlock will probably
play center in college at about 6'3", 300.
Spurlock is hearing from LSU regularly and is planning
on attending at least one Summer camp at LSU and
is also looking forward to camping at USM. Spurlock
would like to take official visits to LSU, USM,
Texas and Texas Tech, if invited. Spurlock made
All-District and All-Metro as a junior and would
like to make All-State his senior year at Clinton
high school and win the state championship.

Chris Faulk
OL, 6'6", 300, 4.8
Monday morning I caught up with Chris Faulk, (OL
6'6", 300, 4.8) from Northshore high school
in Slidell, Louisiana. Faulk told me that he has
a 2.5 GPA and will take the ACT test in February.
Faulk made second team All-State as a junior and
hopes to make the US Army All-America team in 2008.
Faulk attended the Army All-Star junior combine
the week of the Army All-Star game and turned a
lots of heads. Faulk is hearing from schools nationwide
including LSU, Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn,
Georgia, Purdue, FSU, USC and Nebraska. Faulk would
like to take official visits to LSU, Florida, USC
and FSU and is spending the off-season working
on getting bigger and stronger. Faulk is bench
pressing 320 and squats 420. The giant offensive
lineman's plans are to attend at least one LSU
Summer camp. Northshore head coach Mike Bourg told
me that Faulk will be a five-star recruit and will
be able to sign with his school of choice in 2009.
Casey Henderson
RB, 5'10 1/2", 225, 4.6
Late Monday afternoon I spoke to Casey Henderson
(5'10 1/2", 225, 4.6) from Benton high school
in Bossier Parish. Henderson made first team class
4-A All-State in 2007 and is a very physical, hard-nosed,
downhill runner. The brushing running back who
gained over 1,800 yards and scored 22 touchdowns
did not have a list of the schools he is hearing
from, but did say he would like to take official
visits to LSU, Nebraska, Georgia and Georgia Tech.
Henderson's plans are to attend a Summer camp in
New Jersey and one of LSU's Summer camp. Henderson
is also on the Benton wrestling team, wrestles
in the heavyweight division, and has a 23-1 record.
His only loss was against a wrestler from Shaw
high school.

Carneal Ainsworth
OL, 6'4 1/2", 300, 5.3
Monday morning I caught up with Carneal Ainsworth
(OL, 6'4 1/2", 300, 5.3) from Parkview high
school in Baton Rouge. Ainsworth will be one of
the most highly recruited offensive linemen in
the state of Louisiana and the entire South in
2008. Ainsworth is receiving mail from major colleges
all across the nation including LSU, Auburn, Alabama,
UCLA, Florida, Georgia, Ga Tech and Connecticut,
to name a few. Ainsworth would like to take official
visits to LSU, Florida, Auburn, Georgia and Ga
Tech. He is using the off season to get stronger
and improve his time in the forty. Ainsworth squats
500 lbs, benches 320, threw the shot-put 52 feet
as a junior and hopes to win state this year. Ainsworth's
plans are to attend Summer camps at Florida and
Auburn and the one-day lineman camp at LSU.
Benny Logan
DE, 6'3", 235, 4.8
Monday afternoon I interviewed Benny and Richard
Logan from Red River high school in Coushatta,
Louisiana. I first spoke to Benny Logan (DE, 6'3",
235, 4.8). B. Logan made All-District Co-MVP in
2007 along with highly touted Chris Davenport from
Mansfield. He also made first team All-State, has
a 2.5 GPA and will be taking the ACT on February
09. He did not have his 2007 stats in front of
him but I was told by Coach Reginald Prelow that
most of the opposing teams chose to run to the
opposite side of the field that Benny lined up
on. Tennessee, LSU, Baylor, TCU and Texas are recruiting
B. Logan along with LA Tech and all in-state schools.
B. Logan's plans are to attend Summer camps at
Tennessee and LA Tech and he would like to visit
LSU, Tennessee LA Tech and Texas. B. Logan also
averages nine points and 11 rebounds per game in
basketball.
Richard Logan
LB, 5'11", 185, 4.6
After interviewing Benny Logan I interviewed his
cousin Richard Logan (LB, 5'11", 185, 4.6)
R. Logan has a 2.8 GPA and will take the ACT in
February. He missed several games as a junior but
did record 65 tackles with 20 tackles for lost
yardage. R. Logan is receiving mail from LSU and
several in-state schools and plans on attending
Summer camps at LSU and Arkansas. Red River head
football coach Regional Prelow is very high on
both players on and off the playing field.

Travante Stallworth
QB, ATH, 5'10", 180,
4.4
Friday, January 25 I talked to Leesville head
coach Terence Williams concerning (QB/ATH) Travante
Stallworth, 5’10”, 180, 4.4. Stallworth
moved with his family from Pensacola, Florida to
Leesville two years ago. According to coach Williams,
Stallworth is a smart kid with a 3.2 GPA and he
has not taken the ACT yet. Williams told me that
within the last year several major universities
have called or stopped by the school for requests
of film on Michael Ford and after viewing the films
they became very interested in Stallworth. Ford
missed most of the 2007 season with an injury and
Stallworth responded with a great season. Stallworth
threw for 1,340 yards and 10 touchdowns and rushed
for 950 yards and 17 touchdowns. Stallworth is
hearing from LSU, Alabama, Tulane, FSU and Florida.
Les Miles was a visitor last week at Leesville
and Nick Saban is scheduled to visit this week.
Stallworth's plans are to attend Summer camps at
LSU, FSU and Florida this Summer. If anyone has
any doubt about Stallworth's ability, all you have
to do is ask any high school coach in district
3-4A.
Rufus Porter, Jr.
LB, 6'1 1/2", 190, 4.6
Sunday afternoon I received a phone call from
linebacker Rufus Porter, Jr, 6’11/2, 190,
4.6 from Destrehan high school. Porter is the son
of former New Orleans Saints linebacker Rufus Porter
who is now living in Houston Texas and coaching
girls basketball at Benji's Academy. Porter has
a 2.5 GPA and has not taken the ACT. Porter's name
is just now surfacing so he is not hearing from
a lot of schools yet. Connecticut is the one school
that he is hearing from the most. Porter made second
team All-District in perhaps the toughest class
5-A district in the state in 2007. Porter led the
state champs in tackles with 100 including 19 for
losses and five sacks. Porter is undecided at this
time if he will attend any Summer camps.

Darrington Sentimore
DT, 6'3 1/2", 263, 4.6
Thursday morning I caught up with defensive tackle
Darrington Sentimore (6'3 1/2", 263, 4.6)
from Destrehan high school. Sentimore has a 2.6
GPA and will be taking the ACT in April. Sentimore
was one of the key players in Destrehan's winning
the class 5-A state title. I saw the Blue Chip
lineman play three times in 2007 and I believe
he was the most dominating defensive player in
the state in 2007. I believe Sentimore will be
one of five five-star players from the state of
Louisiana for the 2009 signing class. Sentimore
is hearing from schools nationwide including Florida,
Connecticut, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Minnesota, Nebraska,
Alabama, Auburn, and Ole Miss, just to name a few.
Sentimore's plans to attend the July Summer camp
at LSU. His goals are to repeat as state champs
and to make All-State and high school All-America.
Last season, Sentimore had 120 tackles including
20 behind the line of scrimmage. Sentimore also
plays basketball for the nationally ranked Destrehan
Wildcats and averages 12 points per game. I asked
Sentimore if he was a good rebounder and he sort
of chuckled and said he loves to rebound. Sentimore
was very enjoyable to talk to.
Montrell Connors
RB, 6'2", 216, 4.4
Tuesday afternoon I caught up with Ouachita of
Monroe head coach John Carr for information on
two of his prize prospects. Coach Carr had great
things to say about running back Montrell Connors
and linebacker Cameron Blake. I first talked to
running back Montrell Connors (6'2", 216,
4.4). Connors has a 3.0 GPA and made a 16 on his
ACT in November and will retake the test in February.
He is hearing from most of the SEC schools including
Georgia who had a coach at the school on Monday.
Connors is also receiving heavy mail from USC,
Clemson and Oklahoma. The speedy running back gained
1,300 yards and scored 24 touchdowns in 2007. Connors
told me that he would like to take officials visits
to LSU, Florida, Clemson, Alabama and Ole Miss.
Connors made All-District, All-NE Louisiana and
honorable mention All-State as a junior and has
goals are to make All-State and win the state class
5-A title in 2008. Connors is planning on attending
Summer camps at LSU and Alabama.
Cameron Blake
LB, 6'2", 218, 4.5
After talking to Montrell Connors I spoke to Cameron
Blake (LB, 6’2”, 218, 4.5). Blake has
a 3.2 GPA and made a 16 on the ACT as a sophomore.
Coach Carr told me that Blake played safety as
a sophomore and junior and made All-District at
6'1", 190, but has grown out of the position
and will play linebacker in 2008. Carr believes
that Blake has a chance to be very good. LSU, Mississippi
State, Florida and Alabama have been very active
in recruiting Blake. Blake would like to visit
LSU, Alabama and MSU in 2008 and is planning on
attending Summer camps at LSU, Alabama and MSU.
Malcolm Darby
CB, 6'1", 195, 4.4
Wednesday morning I talked to Coach Paul Trosclair
from Eunice high school concerning his two outstanding
defensive backs, Malcolm Darby and Troy Godfrey.
Coach Trosclair had high words of praise for both
prospects but said both have a lot of work to do
in the classrooms before playing at the next level.
I first talked to Malcolm Darby (CB, 6'1",
195, 4.4) who has a 2.5 GPA and has not taken the
ACT. Darby made All-District and All-State as a
junior and had a school record of eight interceptions.
He also had five interceptions as a sophomore.
Darby is also a starter on the Bobcats basketball
team averaging 10 points per game. Darby's goals
for the 2008 season are to win district and win
state. Darby plans are to attend Summer camp at
LSU.
Troy Godfrey
S, 6'2", 192
After talking to Darby I talked to Troy Godfrey
(S, 6'2", 192). Godfrey has a 2.5 GPA and
will be taking the ACT in April. Godfrey, like
his teammate Malcolm Darby, is hearing mostly from
in-state schools, but that will change once the
two have ACT scores. Godfrey made All-District,
All-Acadiana and honorable mention All-State in
2007. Godfrey had 114 tackles in 2007 and four
forced fumbles. Godfrey's goals are to improve
his GPA and ACT and he is planning on attending
Summer camp at LSU in June.

David Hurd
OL, 6’7”, 285, 5.3
Monday afternoon I spoke with West Monroe offensive
lineman David Hurd (6'7", 285, 5.3). Hurd
has a 3.8 GPA and made a 24 on his ACT the only
time he has taken the test. Hurd was a part-time
starter last season for the Rebels and is not widely
known by college scouts, but he will be a full-time
starter in the 2008 season, and if he has a good
season he will be highly recruited because of his
height. Hurd is hearing often from Oklahoma and
in-state schools. Hurd would like to take official
visits to Oklahoma and LSU at the end of the 2008
high school season. Hurd's goal is to make All-District
and All-State in 2008 and to improve his time in
the forty. Hurd also plays basketball for the Rebels
and averages about five points per game. Hurd is
planning on spending this Summer at West Monroe
working on getting stronger and improving his time
in the forty.
Clint Clement
LB, 6'2", 210
Later Monday afternoon I spoke with Clint Clement
from Ruston. Clement is the younger brother of
LSU commitment Chase Clements. Clint is living
in Ruston with his dad and he really likes the
North-Louisiana life style. Clint made All-District
defensive tackle in 2007 at E.D. White, has some
work to do in the classroom, and has not yet taken
the ACT. Clement is hearing from LSU, Louisville,
Ole Miss and La Tech. His goals are to get bigger
and stronger and make All-District and All-State
in 2008. Clement will attend one of LSU's Summer
camps.
Eddie Lacy
RB, 6'1", 205, 4.5
Tuesday morning, January 22, I spoke to coach
Bennie Saia from Dutchtown concerning his two super
running backs Eddie Lacy and Kevin York. Saia had
great things to say about both players and said
that Lacy was the best running back he has ever
coached. I first spoke to Eddie Lacy (6'1",
205, 4.5) who made a 17 on his ACT the only time
he has taken the test but has some work to do in
the classroom to improve his GPA. Lacy is hearing
from most of the major college powerhouse football
programs including LSU, Arkansas, Alabama, Auburn,
Ole Miss and Miami. Lacy would like to take official
visits to LSU, Arkansas, Miami and Auburn. Lacy
rushed for 1,800 yards and 28 touchdowns his junior
season at Dutchtown, made All-District, All-Metro,
All-Parish and All-State as a junior, and would
like to win the state championship in 2008. Lacy
does not have plans to attend any Summer camps
at this time.

Dion Anthony
QB/ATH, 6'1", 201, 4.55
Late Thursday afternoon I spoke to Westgate high
school's multi-talented Dion Anthony. Anthony plays
quarterback at Westgate but is projected to play
wide receiver or free safety in college. He is
hearing from LSU, Florida, Rutgers and all of the
in-state schools. Anthony would like to take official
visits to Ole Miss, Florida and LSU and is planning
on attending a one-day camp at Alabama this weekend.
As a junior, Anthony passed for 1,211 yards and
12 touchdowns and rushed for 898 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Anthony also plays basketball and averages 12 points
per game and scored 21 points Tuesday in the Tigers'
upset of No. 1 ranked Lafayette high.
LaDarious Abrams
RB, 6'0", 200, 4.5
Later Thurday afternoon I got lucky
and caught up with West Monroe's
LaDarious Abrams and D. J. Banks.
I first talk to Abrams who has
a GPA of 2.8 and will be taking
the ACT in February. Abrams is
receiving mail from LSU, Connecticut,
UNC, Alabama, Florida, Arkansas, La Tech and LSU.
Abrams rushed for 821 yards on 100 carries and
12 touchdowns in 2007, and also caught 23 passes
for 269 yards and eight touchdowns. Abrams
is undecided as to what Summer
camps he will be attending this Summer but did
say he was planning on attending two camps. Abrams
goals for 2008 are to make All-State and win the
state championship.
D. J. Banks
ATH, 5'10", 175, 4.45
After speaking with Abrams, I spoke
to B.J. Banks. Banks has a 3.7
GPA and a 21 on his ACT. Banks is hearing from
Mississippi State, Ga Tech, Alabama, Arkansas,
LSU, ULM, La Tech and Tulane. He would like to
take official visits to USC, LSU, MSU, Alabama,
and Ga Tech. Banks' plans are to attend Summer
camps at LSU, Miami and MSU. Banks is a dangerous
kick returner and the teams who played West Monroe
last season only kicked to the speedster three
times. Banks also plays baseball for the Rebels
and had a batting average of .420 last season and
only struckout eight times all season.

Julius Warmsley
DE, 6'3". 230, 4.66
Tuesday, January 15, I had a
few hours to call 12-15 in-state
high school football coaches
to do interviews with prospects
on their teams. I first spoke
with coach Barry Musemeche
of ST Michael high school in
Baton Rouge concerning defensive
end Julius Warmsley. Musemeche
had nothing but great things
to say about his prize prospect.
After talking with Coach Musemeche,
I spoke to Warmsley who sports a 3.2 GPA
and made a 20 on his ACT the
only time he has taken the
test. Warmsley made All-District
his sophomore and junior seasons
at ST Michaels and first team
All-State last season. In the
last two seasons Warmsley has
blocked 10 punts including six in the 2007 season.
Warmsley is 6'3",
230 and runs the forty in 4.66.
The highly-touted senior to
be in 2008 was an invited guest
to six LSU home games in 2007
and attended all but three
of LSU's 14 games. The soft-spoken
defensive end told me that
he is hearing from all the
SEC teams and several other
big-time programs. Warmsley's
plans are to attend as many
Summer camps and combines as
possible this coming Summer
including camps at LSU, Duke
and Alabama.
Alex Singleton
RB,
6'0", 230, 4.6
Tuesday afternoon I also spoke to
Coach Larry Dauterive of East
ST John high school concerning
three of his four major college prospects. The
first of Coach Dauterive's prospects I spoke
to was running back Alex Singleton (6'0",
230, 4.6). Singleton rushed for
over 1,700 yards as a junior
and was at his best the second
half of the season and in the playoffs. Singleton
has a 2.6 GPA and has not taken the ACT, but
has plans to take the test in February. According
to Dauterive, Singleton will be very highly recruited.
Singleton is receiving mail from schools nation
wide including LSU, Purdue, Arkansas, Alabama,
Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Connecticut, Houston
and all of the in-state schools. Singleton is
not certain at this time what Summer camps he
will attend this Summer.
Patrick Lewis
OL, 6'2", 298,
5.3
After interviewing Singelton, I talked to Patrick
Lewis, (OL, 6'2", 298, 5.3) who Coach Dauterive
describes as being a very hard-nose and physical
player who loves to play the game. Lewis has a
3.2 GPA and has not taken the ACT. Lewis is receiving
mail from LSU, Houston, Connecticut, Arkansas,
Auburn, UNC, Rutgers and in-state schools. Lewis
said that at this time LSU is the only school he
would like to visit. Lewis also throws the shot-put
and came in second behind Drake Nevis in district
in 2007 with a throw of 46 ft 7 inches. Lewis and
Nevis are best friends.
Briscon James
S/LB, 6'2", 195,
4.55
The final East ST John player I interviewed was
Briscon James (S/LB, 6'2", 195, 4.55). James
has a 2.8 GPA and has not taken the ACT. James
is a very physical player and a hard worker, according
to Coach Dauterive. James is receiving mail from
all over the nation but mostly from LSU, Auburn,
Texas and Tulane, and he's planning on attending
Summer camps at LSU and Auburn.
Richard Buckland
ATH, 6'1",
230
Tuesday night I caught up with Richard Buckland
(ATH, 6'1", 230) from Dutchtown high school.
Buckland is a multi-talented athlete who played
nose tackle and tight end and was also the snapper
on PATs and FGs in the 2007 season. Buckland has
a 2.7 GPA and has not taken the ACT. Buckland is
hearing from LSU and other SEC schools plus Connecticut,
Duke, Tulsa, and Arizona. Buckland made All-Parish
and second team All-District this past season and
is hoping to make All-State and lead his team to
the class 5-A state championship. Buckland plans
to attend at least one LSU Summer camp.
Andrew Hebert
WR, 6'2", 195
Wednesday morning I talked to Andrew Hebert (WR,
6'2", 195) from Teurlings Catholic in Lafayette.
Hebert told me that he is receiving mail from LSU,
Connecticut, Houston and ULL. Hebert's dad, Jake
Hebert, was a four-year starter in the offensive
line for the Cajuns. Hebert is currently playing
basketball and is averaging around 12 points per
game and is a member of the Teurlings baseball
team. Hebert has a 2.5 GPA and has not taken the
ACT. Hebert's Summer plans are uncertain at this
time.
Chris Davenport
DL/OL 6'4",
310, 5.2
Wednesday afternoon I spoke to three highly touted
prospects for the 2009 signing class, and the first
person I spoke to was Chris Davenport (DL/OL 6'4",
310, 5.2) from Mansfield high school. The giant
offensive lineman told me he has a 2.7 GPA and
is waiting on the results of the ACT he recently
took. Davenport, who is projected to play defensive
tackle in college, will be one of the nation's
most highly recruited defensive linemen for the
2009 signing class. Davenport is hearing from USC,
Alabama, Boston College, LSU and SEC schools. When
asked what schools he would like to take official
visits to, Davenport's reply was USC, Alabama,
Florida, Texas, Texas Tech, Miami and LSU. Davenport
made All-District and All-State last season and
is also a member of the Mansfield basketball team.
He can dunk the basketball. Davenport also throws
the shot-put and his best distance was 45 ft, nine
inches at the state finals. Davenport is planning
on attending Summer camps at USC, Alabama, Florida,
and Ole Miss. Davenport attended all but three
of LSU's home games this past season.
Kenny Bell
WR, 6'1", 175, 4.3
Later Wednesday afternoon I spoke to Rayville
high school football coach Bo Barton to line up
an interview with All-State wide receiver Kenny
Bell and Abrecus Martinez, an up-and-coming wide
receiver. Coach Barton could not stop talking about
the athletic ability of Kenny Bell. Bell is 6'1",
175 and runs the 40 in 4.3, the 100 meters in 10.5
and the 200 meters in 21.5. Bell had 50 receptions
during the 2007 season with 14 touchdowns. Bell
also returned kicks for the Hornets including three
for touchdowns. Bell's GPA is 2.5 and he will be
taking the ACT in February. Bell told me that he
is hearing from schools nation wide but that LSU
and Alabama are sending the most mail. The speedy
wide receiver would like to take official visits
to LSU, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida and attend
Summer camps at LSU and Alabama.
Abrecus Martinez
WR, 6'3",
195, 4.55
After interviewing Kenny Bell, I spoke to Abrecus
Martinez (WR, 6'3", 195, 4.55). Martinez has
a 2.5 GPA and will take the ACT in February. Martinez
is hearing mostly from the University of North
Carolina, LSU, Ole Miss, Georgia and Florida and
has plans to attend Summer camps at LSU and Alabama.
Coach Barton told me that Martinez has great upper
body strength and makes great catches over many
defensive backs because of his size and strength.

Michael Lamothe
LB,
6'3", 220,
4.7
Monday night I caught up with Michael Lamothe,
a 6'3", 220, 4.7 LB from New Iberia high school.
Lamothe told me that he has made one B this year
and has a 3.98 GPA. He made a 25 on his ACT as
a sophomore and plans to retake the test. Before
talking to Lamothe, I spoke to head coach Rick
Hutson who told me that Lamothe had great hands
and could play tight end in college. Hut told me
that New Iberia uses Lamothe in short yardage situations
and because of that his teammates calls him Tebow.
Lamothe made second team All-District as a sophomore
and his goals are to make first team All-District
and All-State his senior season at New Iberia high
school. Lamothe was invited and attended two LSU
home games this past season and has plans to attend
at least one LSU Summer Camp this Summer. Lamothe
is hearing from Tulane, LSU, LA Tech and other
in-state schools. Lamothe's favorite LSU player
is Luke Sanders and his favorite NFL team is the
Colts because of Joseph Addai.
Ronald Gillis Jr.
S, 5'11",
200, 4.55
After talking to Michael Lamothe, I talked to
his teammate Ronald Gillis Jr. (S, 5'11",
200, 4.55). Gillis is the son of former NFL player
Ronald Gillis. He has a 3.2 GPA and has not taken
the ACT. Gillis attended the Bennie White Shoes
camp last Summer and has not made plans for this
Summer. Gillis' favorite NFL team is the Colts
and his favorite NFL player is Champ Bailey. Coach
Hut told me earlier that Gillis has a chance to
sign with a division 1-A school.
Michael Ford
RB, 5'9", 204, 4.5
Tuesday I spoke to Coach Williams at Leesville
high school concerning his super Blue Chip running
back prospect Michael Ford (5'9", 204, 4.5).
According to Williams, Ford is the hardest working
player he has ever coached, including Michael Clayton
at Christian Life high school in Baton Rouge. Ford
has a 2.5 GPA and has not taken the ACT. Ford is
hearing from all the major powerhouse teams in
the nation including LSU, USC, Texas, Florida and
the entire SEC. Ford told me that LSU is his favorite
team but he would like to take official visits
to Florida, FSU, Auburn, Alabama and LSU. Ford
missed half of his junior season with a shoulder
injury but still managed to gain 1,300 yards with
a 7.6 average per carry and 20 touchdowns.

Ruben Randle
WR, 6'3", 195
My first
phone call (1/15/08) was to
Bastrop high school. I spoke
to Coach Brad Bradshaw for a few minutes
and later in the day I spoke
to three of the defending class
4-A state champion players.
I first spoke to two-time All-State
wide receiver Ruben Randle
(WR, 6'3", 195)
who will be the number one
player on my top 100 prospect
list when it is released on
February 07. Randy runs the
forty in 4.47, has a 3.6 GPA
and made a 19 on the ACT the
only time he took the test.
I asked the super prospect
what schools he is hearing
from and his reply was most
of the big schools. Randle
does not know what schools
he will visit next season,
but LSU and Alabama are at
the top of his list.
Joshua Downs
DT, 6'1-1/2", 265, 4.8
After talking to Randle, I
spoke to All-State defensive
tackle Joshua Downs (6'1-1/2",
265, 4.8). Downs has a 3.0
GPA and has not taken the ACT yet. Downs is being recruited
by LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tulane and all
in-state schools. Downs' plans are to attend an LSU
Summer camp for the second straight year. Coach Bradshaw
told me that Downs' only drawback is his height but
that is not keeping college scouts from inquiring about
the strong defensive lineman.
DeQuinta Jones
DT, 6'3", 250, 4.8
Coach Bradshaw also had great
things to say about DeQuinta Jones (DT, 6'3",
250, 4.8). Jones is hearing from Southern Mississippi,
LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi, Tulane and in-state schools.
Jones has a 2.9 GPA and has not taken the ACT yet.
Jones and several of his teammates will attend at least
one LSU Summer camp this Summer.
