Chase Clement
TE/DE, 6'6", 260

I have started calling prospects several of the prospects on my list and Tuesday afternoon I caught up Chase Clement (6'6", 260, TE/DE) from E.D. White high school in Thibodaux. Clement told me that he has a 3.1 GPA and will be taking the ACT for the first time on February 24. Clement told me that he had already received scholarship offers from LSU and Ole Miss and received a scholarship offer from Florida a few hours before my phone call. He told me that he camped at LSU last Summer and will do so again this Summer. Clement, who is being recruited to play defensive end at LSU, told me he would like to visit LSU, Notre Dame, Florida, Alabama and Ole Miss on official visits. Clement said his favorite LSU player last season was Dwayne Bowe and his all time favorite NFL player was his uncle Eric Andolsek who played at LSU from 1984-88, made All-SEC in 86-87, and made All-Pro as an NFL guard while playing for the Detroit Loins. Andolsek's life came to a sudden end when an eighteen wheeler lost control and ran off the road and took his life while he was cutting grass in his front yard in Thibodaux. Clement has been offered by LSU.

Clay Spencer
OL, 6'6", 285

Thursday afternoon January 19 I interviewed Clay Spencer (OL, 6'6", 285) from Parkview Baptist who is No. 10 on my list. I asked Spencer how off-season workouts were going and he said great. Spencer has been spending time lifting weights and running sprints. His goal is to get his forty time down to 5.0 for the start of next season which would be excellent. Spencer has a 3.7 GPA and made a 22 on his ACT the only time he has took the test. He told me that he is hearing from schools throughout the country, but mostly from LSU, Auburn, Alabama, Colorado, UCONN, SO Mississippi, Ole Miss, TCU, Texas, LA Tech and UL-L. At this time, Spencer would like to take official visits to LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss and Colorado, but that could change. He has already taken unofficial visits to Alabama and Ole Miss. Spencer has a busy Summer planned that includes attending camps at LSU, Ole Miss, Alabama and Auburn. Spencer's Grandfather, Fritz Spencer, played Baseball at LSU in 1948-49 and his Great Grandfather, Fritz L. Spencer, was the captain of the 1922 LSU football team. LSU Commitment.

Miller sports a 3.4 GPA from one of the best academic schools in the state of Louisiana and made a 24 on his ACT the only time he took the test. Saia made All-District, All-Parish and All-Metro as a junior and one of his goals is to make All-State in 2007. Saturday January 28 I spoke to Mikie Mahtook who is No. 30 on my top 100 prospect list. Mahtook missed the entire 2006 season because of a broken leg and probably would be ranked higher had he played in 2006. Mahtook is 6'1", 195 and runs a 4.42 forty. Mahtook attended the Army All-Star Junior combine in San Antonio, Texas, a few weeks ago and competed very well against 60 or more top of the top junior quarterbacks in the nation. Mahtook is also a super high school baseball player. He plays center field and pitches and finished the 2006 season with a .430 batting average including two home runs and 55 RBIs. Landry does have some major grade problems to deal with, but has a grade point average of 2.0 and has not yet taken the ACT. Landry is hearing from LSU, Arkansas, Notre Dame, Florida, and Ole Miss, to name a few. Landry told me that he has not decided which schools he plans on visiting after the 2007 high school season is over, but did say that three of the five schools would be LSU, Florida and Arkansas. Mackey told me that he is receiving mail from Stanford, Notre Dame, Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, and Colorado, but has not given very much thought about what schools he would like to visit after the 2007 football season is over. Mackey, who is a first cousin of Bastrop quarterback Randall Mackey, told me that he plans to attend Summer Camp at LSU this Summer. Mackey has all the tools to be a great linebacker in college, his only drawback is that he is only 5í11î. However, Sam Mills made All-NFL for the Saints and he is only 5'9".

P.J. Lonergan
OL, 6'4", 290, 5.3

Lonergan made All-District and All-Metro in 2006 . Lonergan has been invited to attend Junior Day at LSU. Players who are being invited to Junior Day started receiving their invitations in the mail this week. P.J. Lonergan is the son of Patrick Lonergan who played at LSU in 1978. P.J. Sunday afternoon February 10 ,I received a phone call from offensive lineman Demetrius Porter (6'5", 280, 5.5) from Marksville. Porter and I had been playing phone tag the last two weeks. Porter has a 2.5 GPA and plans to take the ACT test in April. He told me that he is receiving mail from LSU, ND, Louisville, Alabama, Colorado and Connecticut. Porter has not received any offers yet, but according to J.T. Dunbar, his head coach, he is expected to start receiving offers after he receive his ACT score. Porter is planning on attending Summer camp at LSU and has been invited to attend junior day at LSU. Coach J.T. Dunbar from Marksville also told me that he has a junior defensive tackle name Ron Alexander (6'3", 270) that I should keep an eye on.

Tyler Edwards
TE, 6'4", 230, 4.7

Monday afternoon , February 12 I caught up with Tyler Edwards (TE, 6'4", 230, 4.7) from Ouachita Parish who is No.3 on my top 100 prospsect list. Edwards has a 3.0 GPA and took the ACT last Saturday and feels like he did very well on the test. Tyler Edwards' older brother played TE at LSU from 2000 through 2003. Edwards told me that he is receiving mail for schools nationwide and has received scholarship offers from Michigan, Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Southern Mississippi and LA Tech. Edwards will attend Junior Day at LSU on February 24 and will almost certainly receive an offer from LSU at that time. Tyler was not certain about what schools he will officially visit after the 2007 high school season but did name LSU, USC, Alabama, Miami and Michigan. In 2006 Edwards caught 22 passes for 358 yards and four touchdowns. I asked Edwards if he considers himself more of a blocking TE or as a pass receiver and he said he enjoys blocking and catching passes about the same. Edwards' goals for 2007 are to get stronger and faster and to have 500 yards or more in pass receiving. His other goals are to make All-State and to win the class 5-A state championship. Based on a conversation I had with head coach John Carr, the Loins have a great chance of making it to the Dome. Edwards has been offered by LSU.

Roderick Banks
WR, 6'3", 185, 4.5

After interviewing Tyler Edwards, I spoke to Evangel Christian head coach Ronnie Alexander concerning his star wide receiver Roderick Banks (6'3", 185, 4.5). Banks has a 2.5 GPA and a 19 on the ACT. Alexander told me that Banks has a chance to be as good as he wants to be. Banks has long arms, soft hands and runs great pass route. Coach Alexander also told me that Banks is working harder in the weight room and in individual workouts than ever before. Banks is receiving mail from LSU, ND, Colorado, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Vanderbilt, Auburn, Ole Miss, Duke, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma State. At this time, Banks says he would like to visit LSU, Alabama, Oklahoma State, Florida and Auburn after the 2007 season, but that could change. In 2006 Banks caught 46 passes for 620 yards and eight touchdowns. Banks' goal in 2007 are to win the state title again and to be recruited by top 10 teams.

Randal Mackey
QB, 5'11-1/2", 200, 4.5

Late Tuesday afternoon February 13 TH. I caught up with Randal Mackey, (QB, 5'11-1/2", 200, 4.5) from Bastrop, Louisiana. Mackey is No. 7 on my top 100 list, has a 2.5 GPA and has not yet taken the ACT. Mackey was very shy on the phone and it was hard for me to get much information. He told me he is receiving mail from LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Stanford and said he would like to visit LSU, Texas, Florida and Mississippi State after the 2007 season. Mackey did not mention that he is receiving mail from Texas and Florida when I asked what schools he was hearing from, but since he would like to visit those two schools it makes me believe he will be receiving mail from them if he hasn't already. I asked Coach Bradshaw before the interview if Mackey would be highly recruited, and he said very much so. In 2006 Mackey threw for 2,800 yards and 36 touchdowns. The Rams lost their two top receivers in 2006-07 including DeAngelo Benton to LSU. The Rams will replace Benton with Rueben Randle (6'3", 195) who might be even better than Benton. Mackey's goals are to win district and sate again. Mackey does not have any Summer camp plans as of yet. I believe that Mackey will be highly recruited if he makes a passing grade on the ACT.

Allen Muse
WR, 6'5", 4.57, 197

After my interview with Randal Mackey, I interviewed Allen Muse (WR, 6'5", 4.57, 197) who attends Leesville high school. Muse transferred to Leesville from Karr high school after hurricaine Katrina destroyed the school in 2006. Muse did not enroll at Leesville high school until the fourth game of the 2005 season and played very little. In 2006 Muse started for the run-orient team and was limited to only a handfull of catches. Leesville's head coach resigned two weeks ago and when the new coach is hired he will become Muse's fourth head coach in the last four years. Muse has a 3.0 GPA and took the ACT last Saturday. He is receiving mail from Texas Tech, Yale and others and has been invited to attend Junior Day at LSU and a Nike Combine this Summer. I was asked to do the interview with Muse from a very knowledge football expert who believes that the young man should be in my top 10.

He has a 3.2 GPA and took the ACT last Saturday. Jones is being recruited by LSU, Ole Miss, Arizona State, Houston, Tulane and Southern Mississippi in both football and baseball. Jones said that after the 2007 high school football season is over he would like to visit Florida, Auburn, Ole Miss and Tennessee. In 2006 Jones rushed for 910 yards and 12 touchdowns, had over 500 yards on kick and punt returns, and scored two touchdowns. Jones had 58 tackles from his linebacker position including several behind the line of scrimmage. In 2006 the multi-talented athlete made first team All-District, first team All-State and All-Metro in Football. In baseball, Jones plays all the outfield positions and hit .560 with 12 home runs. Some of the nation's top baseball programs are recruiting Jones including LSU, Arizona State, Long Beach State, Tulane, ULL and Ole Miss. Jones hopes to attend one of LSU's Summer camp if his schedule allows. Jones has also been invited to Junior Day at LSU, Ole Miss and Miss State, but will likely not be able to attend LSU's Junior Day because of playing in a baseball tournament. Tiger fans, I saw Rodarrick Jones play in the class 1-A state championship game in the Super Dome last December and he is the real deal.

Nelson has been invited to LSU's Junior Day on February 24 and is looking forward to the trip. His plans are to attend Summer camps at Miami, LSU and Ole Miss. I will be adding Jerico Nelson in my top 20 later today or tomorrow.

He made All-District as a Junior and his goals are to make All-State in 2007 and lead his team back to the Dome, and to receive a scholarship offer to a major 1-A school. Coach Davidson said Carvajal's best days are ahead and he believes scholarship offers will come.

Drew Alleman
PK, 5'11", 165, 3.6 GPA

After talking to Carvajal, I spoke to Drew Alleman (PK, 5'11", 165, 3.6 GPA). Alleman was the hero of last season's class 5-A state championship game when he successfully kicked a 42-yard field goal to tie the game at 10-10 with 4.00 to play and kicked a 32-yard field goal with 4 seconds remaining to win the game. Alleman recentley attended a national kicking camp with over 1000 participants and finished in the top three in field goal kicking and punting. Alleman told me that he has heard from LSU and will be attending the Rocky Willingham kicking camp this Summer.

Ethan Piazza
OL, 6'0", 300, 5.4

After talking to Drew Alleman, I caught up with Ethan Piazza (OL, 6'0", 300) who runs the forty in 5.4 and has a GPA of 2.6. Piazza made the class 5-A first team All-State as a junior and is No. 36 on my top 100 prospect list. Piazza's only drawback from being highly recruited is his height. He is planning on attending a Summer camp at LSU and The Nicholls State offensive lineman camp.

Jonathan Morvant
QB, 6' 1/2" , 185, 4.62

The last Acadiana Ram player I talked to was quarterback Jonathan Morvant (6' 1/2" , 185, 4.62, 3.0 GPA). Morvant was injured in the first half of the first game in 2006 and missed the first eight games. He played in the last eight games which included four state playoff games. Morvant is receiving mail from Colorado and hope to receive attention from several other schools this Spring. Morvant's plans are to attend one of LSU's Summer camps and the Manning passing camp. Brown is considered a power runner and is very hard to tackle one-on-one. In 2006, Brown rushed for 829 yards on 123 carries for a 6.8 yard per carry average. Brown's goal for the 2007 season is to win the class 5-A state championship. Brown was invited to attend Junior Day at LSU but will not be able to attend.

Wiley is receiving mail from LSU and Southeastern, Louisiana. He would like to visit LSU after the 2007 season. In 2006, Wiley made 35 tackles and six interception and scored one touchdown. Wiley was not happy with West Monroe not playing in the Dome last season and one of his 2007 goals is to help WM return to the Dome. Wiley would like to have 12 interceptions and return six for touchdowns in the 2007 season. Wiley made All-District in 2006 and would like to make All-State in 2007. Wiley does not have any plans to attend Summer Camps at this time.

Mario Wiley
WR, 6'2", 183, 4.62

The third West Monroe player I interviewed Friday was Mario Wiley (WR, 6'2", 183, 4.62, 3.4 GPA, 21 ACT) who is number 13 on my top 100 prospect list. Wiley told me that he is being recruited by Notre Dame, Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Florida, Colorado, Ole Miss and many more mid-size 1-A schools. Wiley told me that he would like to visit Oklahoma State, LSU, Notre Dame, Auburn, Arkansas and Florida. West Monroe was mostly a running team in 2006, but Wiley did have 39 receptions for 430 yards and three touchdowns. And he also returned three punts for touchdowns. His goals for 2007 are to make All-District and All-State, to not drop any passes, and to lead his team to the state championship.

Juan Guillory
LB, 6' 2-1/2"

In high school football recruiting news, Wednesday I caught up with linebacker Juan Guillory (6' 2-1/2") from Mamou high school. Guillory is No. 67 on my top 100 prospect list but will be moving up very soon. He told me that he has a 3.2 GPA and will be taking the ACT in April. Guillory is receiving mail from schools nationwide and named Colorado, Auburn, Ole Miss, Duke, Nebraska, LSU, Alabama, Connecticut, Texas A&M, Florida and Tennessee. The speedy linebacker told me that he would like to visit Colorado (from whom he is expecting a scholarship offer very soon), Auburn, Florida, LSU and Alabama.

In the 2006 season, Guillory recorded over 100 tackles including a school record 16 sacks, blocked two punts, made two interceptions, returned three fumbles and forced eight fumbles. Guillory is a real country boy whose hobbies are training horses, hunting and fishing. He told me that his family owns five race horses and that he has trained over 20 horses. He also told me that he killed two eight-points Bucks this past deer season and killed a large number of rabbits. Guillory was uncertain about attending any Summer Camps.

Before interviewing Juan Guillory, I spoke to Coach Joel Desselle who told me that several coaches discovered Guillory last season after reviewing films on All-State defensive back Kendrick Celestine. Desselle is expecting a large number of coaches to visit Mamou this Spring and he is expecting his prize prospect to receive several offers.

James Landry
WR, 6'5", 207, 4.6

In high school football news, Thursday, March 02, I spoke to quarterback James Landry of Assumption high school in Napoleonville. Landry has all the tools to be a highly recruited quarterback if he can bring his GPA up to a 2.5 and make a passing grade on his ACT. Landry told me that he is 6'5", 207 and runs a 4.6 forty and has a 2.3 GPA. He has not taken the ACT yet, but plans to take the test in April.

The rifle-arm quarterback told me that he is receiving mail from over 20 schools and named LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn, Alabama, GA Tech, Toledo and North Carolina State. He is planning on attending Summer camps at LSU, Ole Miss and Alabama. Landry said that he would like to take official visits to those three schools plus Auburn and GA Tech.

In 2006, Landry completed 177 of 265 passes for 67 percent for 2,100 yards and 18 touchdowns. Landry's goals for 2007 are to improve his stats, to make All-State and to lead his team to the class 5-A state title. Landry's hobby is sports, especially pick-up basketball games. Landry attended Junior Day at LSU last weekend.

Coach Preston of Assumption is very high on Landry and believes that he will be one of the state most highly recruited players as soon as he has a respectable ACT score. In my opinion LSU will recruit Landry very hard as soon as has a passing grade on the ACT.

Matt Jones
S/RB, 6'2", 185, 4.5

Thursday, March 02, I also spoke to Matt Jones, (S/RB, 6'2", 185, 4.5) from Jennings high school. Jones has a 23 GPA and made a 21 on the ACT the only time he has taken the test. Jones played safety last season for the Bulldogs but will play running back in 2007. In 2006, Jones made 85 tackles and returned four kicks for touchdowns. Jones is receiving mail and phone calls from Ole Miss, Auburn, Texas A&M and LSU and would like to take official visits to those four schools. Jones is also planning to attend Summer camps at Ole Miss, Texas A&M and LSU. Jones is a very polite well-spoken young man and he said his goals for 2007 are to improve his forty time to 4.4 and to make All-District and All-State.

Kellen Theriot
QB/ATH, 6'1-1/2", 230, 4.51

In high school football recruiting news, I reported last night at 8:30 that Kellen Theriot has received a written football scholarship offer from LSU. Here is an interview that I conducted with Theriot Friday afternoon that I was planning on posting in my Monday morning update.

I did a phone interview with (QB/ATH) Kellen Theriot from Episcopal high school in Bellaire, Texas, which is a private school that plays in the SPC which is a private league of 18 schools in Texas and Oklahoma. Theriot attended Acadiana high school in Lafayette until his junior season in high school when he suffered a knee injury that forced him to set out the season and lose a year of eligibility. Theriot made the decision to move to Bellaire, Texas, and live with his dad and take a redshirt year which is allowed in Texas. When I contacted Theriot Friday afternoon, he was outside the Charlie McClendon practice field at LSU waiting to watch LSU scrimmage. Theriot was at LSU on Spring break spending some time with Jacob Cutrera. Theriot and Cutrera grew up as a friends and the two played sports together.

Theriot told me that he is 6'1-1/2", 230, runs a 4.51 forty, has a 2.9 GPA and made a 17 on the ACT his freshman year at Acadiana high school. Theriot told me that he has received mail from 50 schools, mostly from schools in the Big 12 and SEC. Theriot received his first written scholarship offer Thursday from UCLA. LSU is at the top of Theriot's list, but is also very interested in UCLA, Kansas, KSU, Auburn, Miami, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Florida and TCU.

As a junior, Theriot threw for 1,500 yards and 12 touchdowns and rushed for 750 yards and eight touchdowns. LSU is recruiting Theriot as an ATH. Theriot has a busy Summer planned including attending at least one LSU Summer Camp. He is being recruited to play linebacker or safety at LSU.

Theriot called me Saturday night to tell me that he received his scholarship offer in the mail and was on cloud nine, but wanted to wait a few days before committing. I am very happy for Kellen and his dad, Dean, who I have known since he was nine years old playing Little League baseball.

Chris Tolliver
WR, 6'2", 178, 4.3

Tuesday afternoon, January 30, I did interviews with Rayville high school wide receiver Chris Tolliver and quarterback Justin Higgins. I first spoke to Tolliver who I have No. 2 on my LA Top 100 Football Prospect List for the Class of 2008. Tolliver is 6'2", 178 and runs a blazing 4.3 forty. Tolliver has a 2.6 GPA and made a 16 on his ACT the only time he took the test. Coach Bo Barton told me that he believes Tolliver and Higgins will have the grades to play as true freshmen. Tolliver is receiving letters from LSU, Florida, Ole Miss, Colorado, UCLA and many more. The speedy wide receiver is not certain about which schools he would like to visit after the 2007-08 football season, but does have plans to attend a Summer camp at LSU. Tolliver made first-team Class 3-A ?All–State wide receiver in 2006 and led the state in receptions and receiving yards. Tolliver was timed at 10.71 in the 100 meters at the state track and field championship last Spring and was clocked at 10.5 a few weeks later. Tolliver's goals for the rest of this school year are to improve his GPA average and to win district and the state title in 2007-08. Coach Bo Barton told me that he believes Tolliver is the best wide receiver in the state of Louisiana and the entire South. Barton said that he expects Les Miles to offer Tolliver a scholarship soon after this recruiting class is finished.

Justin Higgins
QB/ATH, 6'1/2", 185, 4.5

After talking to Chris Tolliver, I spoke to Justin Higgins (QB/ATH, 6'1/2", 185, 4.5). Higgins has a 2.5 GPA and a 16 on his ACT. He is hearing from Florida, Colorado, Ole Miss and other major schools and would like to visit LSU, Florida and Colorado. Coach Barton told me Higgins would fit in great playing quarterback in college for a team who likes to run the football and throw on roll outs, but not for a team that drops back in the pocket to throw the ball. Higgins completed 54 percent of his passes in 2006-07 for 30 touchdowns and only threw 11 interceptions. Higgins made first team class 3-A All–State quarterback in 2006-07 and hopes to repeat that honor in 2007-08.
